Conservancy Events & Programs
Each year from spring to fall, the Conservancy presents a range of programs and events, in and around the park, as well as in partnership with other community organizations. Programming alerts are sent via our E-newsletter, Facebook page, and updated on our blog.
The Conservancy’s Annual Meeting, usually held in late winter or early spring, provides an opportunity for Conservancy members to get together after the long days of winter, celebrate the previous year’s achievements, and gear up for the busy Park season ahead. Notable guest speakers often enhance the event with discussions of timely and engaging subjects related to the Park.
Tulip Dig and Sale
The Tulip Dig and Sale is an annual rite of spring in Washington Park in May, eagerly anticipated by area residents and avid gardeners inspired by the Park’s glorious tulip plantings to beautify their own gardens. The Conservancy organizes the two day event, held on a weekend following the Tulip Festival, working with the Albany City Gardener and her staff.
Held in the Lake House, September Splendor is the Conservancy’s signature fundraising activity. An end-of-summer tradition in Washington Park, September Splendor is the only event that raises funds to preserve and improve this historic park.
Other Conservancy-sponsored programs in and around the Park include walks for birding enthusiasts and architectural and neighborhood history tours, as well as tours of the trees, shrubs and flowers in the Park with City Forester Tom Pfeiffer and City Gardener Jess Morgan.
