The Washington Park Conservancy has supported the 2019 Cash for Coats campaign, a  community-based initiative designed to collect funds to purchase new winter clothing items for Albany school children in need.

“We hope all of Albany’s children can enjoy Washington Park during the cold winter months as well as on warm sunny spring and summer days,” said Conservancy board president Daniel McEneny.

Presented by the City of Albany, The Palace Theatre, and Lodge’s Department Store, in partnership with the Albany School District, the Cash for Coats Drive was launched by Mayor Kathy Sheehan and program partners last month.

Over the past eleven years, through generous, committed local corporate sponsors and private donations, the Cash for Coats program has distributed tens of thousands of new winter clothing items  — high quality winter coats, tens of thousands of new hats, scarves and mittens and gloves — to Albany schoolchildren in need. Lodge’s offers a significant discount on any items purchased for the Cash for Coats Drive, maximizing the impact of each cash donation.
