Spring is here — along with a new schedule of activities in Washington Park!  As everyone is recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic, we are all looking forward to getting back to normal and enjoying the Park, perhaps with a new appreciation of what we missed over the last year.

The Conservancy has begun planning some anchor outdoor activities in the Park for this coming season in the Park.  These include several new walking tours, along with the return of our popular birding and tree tours. We have also scheduled a series of monthly park clean-ups starting in April. We’ll be partnering on clean-ups with the City of Albany as part of their “Restart Albany” initiative, as well as with various neighborhood and community groups.

This year,  the Conservancy is making a special effort to coordinate and promote as many park events and activities happening on and around Saturdays under the tag line, “Saturdays in the Park.”  You’ll hear from us regularly about upcoming Conservancy events, as well as park events from friends and partners like Albany Events, Washington Park Farmers Market, and others.  If you are involved with an organization planning an event in the Park, we would love to know about it and include it in our promotion.

Virtual Annual Meeting

Please plan to join us for the Conservancy’s first virtual Annual Meeting on Thursday, April 29.  Despite the challenges of the pandemic, we were very active last year, and we’re looking forward to updating you about the projects we undertook and accomplished in 2020, our 35th anniversary year. We are also going to share with you our exciting plans for 2021.  We will have some special guests who will offer insights into the planning process for a new playground, and we’ll also get a sneak peek into the Conservancy’s book project on the 150-year history of Washington Park.
